Potential Music was commissioned by mezzosoprano Hilde Torgersen of the Cikada-ensemble in the year 2000.

The electronics originally used two computers running early versions of Max and Tom Demeyers ImageINE software for live video-processing. To be more robust nowadays the electronics has been remade using the PDRP version of Miller Puckette's PD, and using Processing for the video-parts. (If possible, and when it decides to boot, I still prefer bringing a vintage 8600 AV-Mac to run ImageINE - max possible resolution 320x240 at the time)

The work has since been performed by performers Silje Marie Aker Johnson, Njål Sparbo, Ruth Wilhelmine Meyer and others. Njål using the work to explore psycological and physiologicial issues during his research: “Singing on the stage - with a psycophysical approach” - 2009-2014
